Located in the Kingdom of Fife, overlooking the Firth of Tay, Birkhill castle is the home of the Earls of Dundee, the Royal Standard Bearers of Scotland.

The castle, which can be rented, has 14 large bedrooms, mostly with their own private bathroom; and with good views of north Fifeshire countryside and the river Tay estuary beyond. On the ground floor you can have drinks in the light filled drawing room; or whisky by the fire in the library surrounded by the family’s collection of rare and historic books; then dinner in the chandelier-lit dining room. There is also a ballroom which you might want to use for special events and other purposes.

Set amongst over 1,000 acres of stunning woodland and farmland, secluded paths meander from the tennis court, walled garden and outdoor heated swimming pool down to the private beach and firepit, where you can enjoy a barbecue. With ancient towering trees, red squirrels, otters, seals and even the occasional giant sea eagle soaring overhead, every walk and every day at Birkhill offer something new and different.

There is an additional chef’s kitchen as well as separate accommodation for those helping in the house. Therefore, you can either self cater and look after yourself. Or else go for our own full catering, housekeeping and concierge service.
